The books are science fiction, but the banning is very much the stuff of real life. Choose from Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, The Amulet Of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Remember: The best way to get people to read something is by banning it!
A panel of Indigenous women and femmes from throughout the Midwest will talk about their leadership roles and work in the community as well as the challenges of Indigeneity in colonized society. The goal of this program is to address stereotypes of Native femininity and these connections to the international epidemic of MMIW (missing and murdered Indigenous women). Through self-reflection, discussion and interactive exercises, learn about how you can recognize mental health stigmas, what happens when people are stigmatized, and what you can do to help reduce the resulting problems.
Bluegrass is an American art form that started in the hills of Appalachian hills and resonated with music lovers across the world. Madison’s own Cork ‘n Bottle will bring songs and stories of bluegrass alive for audiences at eight Dane County public libraries.

Join us as we investigate our corner of space and beyond with MPM On the Move (Milwaukee Public Museum’s outreach program)! Learn how our understanding of the universe has changed through the years. Participants will get a chance to model the movement of celestial bodies and build their own scale model of the solar system.
